What is the typical duration of an IT staff augmentation contract?

Contract duration depends on the client’s needs. Most of our projects are long-term, meaning that the development lasts for years. E.g. our very first client is still with us, having started with just 1 developer, there’s a team of 7 people there atm. We also do smaller-scale projects, where the collaboration may last for 3-6 months to complete a particular scope.

How can I be sure of your developers’ qualifications?

Radency is an engineering-driven company (as opposed to a sales-driven one). Our founding team is very technically savvy, so our coding standards set within the company are very high. To join the company, our developers pass through our training and certification program, which ensures engineers are up to our standards.

How long will it take to ramp up a team?

We strive to ensure the immediate availability of strong engineers, so in most cases, we can start the work within days after the paperwork is done. We also have a professional and very efficient recruitment team in place, so when there’s a need to source the developer (e.g. when a specific experience is required, or higher tier than what we have available), we close positions within 4-6 weeks.

Though thanks to our rigorous vetting procedures such cases are extremely rare, we do have a process in place that presupposes a replacement of the engineer when the client is not happy with the performance. We analyze the situation carefully, collect detailed feedback and make sure the new developer is a better match.

When working with clients we ensure full visibility into the development progress and set direct and efficient communication with the client from the get-go.  We either adjust to the already established processes (e.g. like daily stand-ups, reports, planning sessions, retrospective sessions, demos), or we work out together the communication process that would be comfortable for the client. When working with different time zones we strive to ensure several hours of overlap.

We’d suggest looking for providers who have a proven track record of success, and who can provide references and case studies from past clients. It's also important to consider the provider's approach to communication, collaboration, and project management. But in the end, even such an important decision as choosing an outsourcing partner is still for the most part made on an emotional level. So setting up an intro call and then doing due diligence with a reference check could be the best way to go.
